本種は南アフリカのイネ科から採集された標本に基づいて記載された。関東地方から鹿児島まで広く分布し、台湾からも記録されている。寄主植物はイネ科でチヂミザサに普通に見られる。

This species was described based on the specimens collected from Poaceae in South Africa, but now is also known from Japan and Taiwan. In Japan, it is widespread from the Kanto-region to Kagoshima and common on Oplismenus undulatifolius.
